Team Mere put on dance shoes for Brainwave Strictly Summer Charity Fundraiser

From Strictly Come Dancing to strictly fundraising, BBC show finalist, Gemma Atkinson is hanging up her dancing shoes to lend support on the judging panel in new charity fundraiser.

Warrington based children’s charity, Brainwave is announcing plans for new Strictly Summer event which will see 10 business executives partner up with professional dancers from Cadman’s Dance School for the ultimate summer dance contest.

The night will be hosted by radio DJ, Mike Toolan and will see our General Manager, Gary Johnson, and our Events and Conference supervisor put through their paces in a bid to impress the judging panel! There will be a selection of famous faces taking part – including Seema from ITVs hit show, Real Housewives of Cheshire.

The extravagant ballroom event will take place at The Mere Golf Resort and Spa in Knutsford on Saturday June 30 where contestants will strut their stuff in sequins in a battle to win the Brainwave glitterball and raise much needed funds, going directly to supporting children following a Brainwave programme.

General Manager, Gary commented “As General Manager of The Mere Golf Resort & Spa, it was only natural that I had to be involved with the biggest dancing event of the year, The Brainwave Strictly Summer. There will be 10 business executives teaming up with professional dancers from Cadman’s Dance Centre as part of a charity fundraiser for the fantastic Children’s charity, Brainwave. We’ve worked together with the charity for many years, so I’m truly delighted to be involved – although with a lack of dancing knowledge performing in front of an extensive audience (and also the whole of Team Mere) is going to be a very big challenge for me. The event is being hosted to raise as much money for Brainwave which provides excellent support for local families to help children with disabilities to achieve greater independence by aiming to improve mobility, communication skills and learning potentials through educational and physical therapies. For my performance, I’ll be learning what people call the easiest dance of all times – The Charleston – although I beg to differ. However, the dance shoes are out and I’m ready to give it my all to raise lots of money for the wonderful Brainwave cause.

So please, dig deep and help us raise lots of money! You can donate here.

Kimberley Avery, Conference and Events Supervisor said “When I first heard about Brainwave’s Strictly Summer event at The Mere, I jumped at the chance to be involved! For the event, there will be 10 business executives (including myself) teaming up with professional dancers from Cadman’s Dance Centre as part of a charity fundraiser for the wonderful Children’s charity, Brainwave. The next few weeks will see me embark on an exciting challenge –to learn and perform the Samba with my dance partner, Alex White, in just under four months. I’m already aware that there’s going to be lots of training and hours spent getting the dance right, but I’m focused, ready and excited to raise as much money as possible. I’m honoured to be included as one of the dancers for Brainwave; it’s an incredible charity that provides exceptional support for local families helping children with disabilities. Being the events and conference supervisor, at The Mere, we’ve been fortunate to work alongside Brainwave for many years – it’s now time to encourage people to get involved, support the charity and make as much money as possible!”
