A Mere update from Gary Johnson, General Manager
Dear friends and guests of The Mere,
I thought it would be good to update you all on what is happening here on the Resort. Since the 15th May, we have re-opened the Golf course to members and non-members, and been serving takeaway drinks and food from our drinks buggy, and our 11th Green Bar.
It’s been great to see golfers back on the course enjoying the fresh countryside air, but also welcoming a bit of somewhat normality back into their lives through exercise and companionship; which has helped bring the place back to life! Out on the course, we have also introduced the golf ball lifter system on our pin flags, which have kindly been provided by Jack Brooks, our Mere ambassador who is part of the England team squad.
As I am sure you are aware, there’s been speculation about the re-opening of restaurants and bars as early as 22nd June, with hotels set for the 4th July. We are currently in the process of retraining all of our Head of Departments with Covid friendly service and safety regimes that will allow you as our guests and the team to come back with confidence, knowing that we have all of the procedures in place and the use of PPE to allow the re-opening to happen. We are working with Acoura (part of Llyod’s register) our health and safety executive partner to ensure we get the full stamp of approval before signing anything off.
We will be adhering to government guidelines and are currently looking to open our three outside terrace areas, working with a strict 2m social distancing policy with the possibility of booking only to start to ensure guests feel safe in the resort.
We will update you again soon.
In the meantime, stay safe and we look forward to seeing you in the not so distant future.
Gary Johnson,
General Manager
